Fast Facts

  • The 2008 season began in December 2007.
  • The regular season is 32 games per team (16 home and 16 away) plus divisional, conference, and national playoffs.
  • Players must be 18 years of age to compete in the Pro Division and 16 years of age to face-off in the Minors.
  • Unlike ice hockey, PIHA does not allow checking or fighting. Our rules promote speed, agility, and finesse of the inline game. There are four players plus a goalie on the rink at one time. With no icing and no offsides, a fast paced, action-packed, high scoring game is guaranteed!
  • Every night is a doubleheader (every night of PIHA hockey consists of four games, two Minor and two Pro). Both games are two 12-minute stop time periods with halftime sandwiched in between (Minor games are two 10-minute stop time periods).
  • Organizations have both a Pro and a Minor league team. Minor games begin one hour prior to Pro games and are also doubleheaders.
  • PIHA overtime is the most exciting scenario in sports. If a game is tied after regulation, the game moves to three-on-three for four minutes and then two-on-two for three minutes. If the game is still tied, it goes into a sudden death shootout.
  • The Professional Inline Hockey Association is proud to be an active member of each community in which it plays. Teams in our league have created numerous programs that demonstrate their commitment to community enrichment and involvement. Our teams visit schools and hospitals, and participate in community events. The Boys and Girls Clubs of America along with the Special Olympics are examples of organizations that PIHA is supporting in this upcoming season. Numerous other local charities are supported by our teams thru programs such as jersey auctions, special event nights, along with reading and “stay-in-school” presentations.
